Tampa's 2027 Fourth of July plans are not out yet. In 2026 the city's free Liberty by the Bay at Julian B. Lane Park ended with drones and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. This page is updated each year. The City of Tampa has not announced its 2027 Fourth of July plans, so the details below are from the 2026 Liberty by the Bay event page and the city’s traffic advisory. We will update it when the city posts the 2027 details.

The City of Tampa’s Fourth of July celebration is held on the Hillsborough River at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, just west of downtown. In 2026, America’s 250th, the city called it Liberty by the Bay: a free afternoon and evening of music, food trucks and family activities that ended with a 250-drone light show and a fireworks finale.

The city warned of heavy traffic near Sparkman Wharf, the Victory Ship, Armature Works and other waterfront spots.

Road closures and parking in 2026

The city’s traffic advisory closed these streets from 1 to 10 p.m. on July 4:

  • Laurel Street, from North Boulevard to Doyle Carlton Drive
  • Green Street, from North Boulevard to Laurel Street

Drivers coming from the west were told to use Doyle Carlton Drive to North Highland Avenue, East Palm Avenue and North Boulevard.

Parking at the park was limited. ADA parking was at the Julian B. Lane Riverfront Recreation Center, 1301 N. Boulevard, and the south lot at 903 W. Cypress St. The city pointed everyone else to its downtown garages, street parking and a bike valet at West Cypress Street and North Boulevard.

Free shuttles: three free, wheelchair-accessible Jolley Trolley shuttles ran 4 to 11 p.m., stopping at the Marion Transit Center (1211 N. Marion St.), the Fort Brooke Garage (107 N. Franklin St.), Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and Julian B. Lane Park. The TECO Line Streetcar between Ybor City and downtown is also free.

Fireworks at home: the rules

Section 791.08 of Florida law allows consumer fireworks to be used on three designated holidays: Independence Day (July 4), New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The law does not override a recorded deed covenant that bans fireworks, though a homeowners association board cannot make a new rule to stop their use on those days.

Keep fireworks away from people, pets and dry brush, keep water nearby and soak spent fireworks before you throw them away. Call 911 for a fire or injury.

What this means for you

  • Watch for the city’s 2027 announcement; we will update this page.
  • Arrive early or take the trolley; parking at the park fills fast.
  • Expect closures on Laurel and Green streets from early afternoon.
  • At home, fireworks are legal on July 4 only, plus New Year’s Eve and Day.
