Voting by mail
You must ask for a mail ballot; it is not sent automatically. Request one online or by calling 813-744-5900 by 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22. The office began mailing more than 146,000 general election ballots to domestic voters on Oct. 1.
- Return it by mail, allowing at least a week, or drop it in a Secure Ballot Intake Station at any of the five elections offices during business hours or at an early voting site during early voting hours.
- It must be at an elections office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. Polling places cannot take mail ballots.
- Track your ballot and sign up for alerts when it is mailed and counted.
- If there is a problem with your signature, the office has a signature cure process.
Changed your mind? You can vote in person instead; your mail ballot is canceled and you get a new ballot at the site.

Election Day
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. On Election Day you must vote at the polling place for your precinct; find it with the precinct finder. The office says some polling places move every election, so check before you go.
What to bring
Bring current ID with your photo and signature. Pictures of an ID on a phone are not accepted. Accepted photo IDs include a Florida driver’s license, a Florida ID card, a U.S. passport, a military ID, a student ID, a retirement center ID, a neighborhood association ID, a public assistance ID, a VA health ID and a government employee ID. If yours has no signature, bring a second ID that does. Without ID you can still vote a provisional ballot, which the Canvassing Board reviews later.
What is on the ballot
Look up your personal sample ballot on the elections office’s On the Ballot page. Statewide, the ballot includes Amendment 3 on property taxes; our property tax guide explains what the Tax Collector says it would change. Results on election night are unofficial until the Canvassing Board certifies them.
